Frequently Asked Questions

What can Deborah Shelton Photography & Digital Imaging offer that the competition cannot?

  1. Deborah is a creative, experienced and versatile photographer. Born with the soul of a poet and artist, Deborah wishes to provide portraits that are portrayals of the people she photographs.  She does not simply take pictures of people’s faces.
  2. She spent many years learning the art, science and psychology of photography and is a veteran people-watcher. Fascinated by body language, the human face and form, and the way light interacts with it, she can’t seem to stop herself from consciously or subconsciously photographing people in her mind when she sees them.
  3. Deborah takes her inspiration not so much from other photographers but from classic painters like Renoir and John Singer Sargent.  She is not satisfied with her portraits until she feels they take on their own poetic and timeless quality. She achieves this with her attention to detail before, during, and after the session.
  4. Her studio is digital from start to finish, so she is not limited by the constraints of film and film processing and can keep session fees more competitive than studios that have not availed themselves of this capability.
  5. She is a master at digital retouching and restoration. She has transferred her background in positive print retouching to digital technology.
  6. Her studio is centrally located in historical downtown Bastrop where she can serve Bastrop County and the surrounding counties.
  7. She keeps her prices more competitive because she does not accept credit cards but offers flexible payment options.
  8. Deborah’s versatility is expressed in her nature, art, action, architectural and event photography. Her specialty is portraiture, but she keeps her eye fresh and attentive by compiling an extensive database of all types of photographs. She agrees with Susan Sontag who says, “Today everything exists to end in a photograph.”
  9. She keeps her price structure as simple as possible.
  10. Photography is not merely a pastime or means of making a living; it is Deborah’s passion.
